Job Description

Minutemen Direct has an immediate opening for a Temporary Cost Accountant  on 1st shift . Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance is required. 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is also required. Must be proficient in MS Excel and ERP software. Ability to apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting standards. This position could last up to 3 months and you will be helping with month/year end audits. Pay is $80-$90K range.

Responsibilities:

• Manages and maintains cost accounting/and assists with inventory management
• Maintains all standard costs
• Performs standard cost roll-ups
• Develops estimated costs for new projects
• Reviews daily Work-In-Process
• Closes work orders and reviews job costs
• Investigates and analyzes all Material (PPV, Usage) and all Labor (Rate, Efficiency, Usage) variances
• Investigates and analyzes all scrap, rework and outside processing variances
• Assists with month-end closing, prepares journal entries, analyzes inventory evaluation, etc.
• Calculates annual labor and overhead rates
• Represents Accounting staff in meetings when requested
• Creates/Maintains fixed asset records
• Contributes to Accounting team effort by acting as a lead to Accounting Clerks in the absence of the Controller

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5 to 7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with MAS500 is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communications skills to effectively interact with staff, customers and others
• Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
• Ability to work independently and show initiative under minimal supervision
