Equipment Operator I
REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor
HOURLY RATE: $15.80
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
DESCRIPTION
Responsible for operating and maintaining various types of light machinery and equipment.
This role requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work
effectively as part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• A Valid Class C Driver's License is required along with a clean driving record. Class A
CDL Texas Driver License is preferred.
• Ability to obtain a "C" Water Distribution/Wastewater Treatment License within 36
months of hire.
• One (1) year of operational experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment
and trucks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of the geographic layout of the city.
• Knowledgeable about the operating characteristics, methods, techniques, procedures,
• and maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
• Skill in the setup and operation of tools associated with construction grading and
excavating process.
• Skill in the operations of motorized/specialized equipment and vehicles for
construction, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to read and understand written guidelines from manuals, blueprints, and
regulations.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Assists in maintaining the City's water and sewer systems, infrastructure, facilities, and
grounds, following all city ordinances, state and federal regulations, and procedures.
• Performs skilled and semi-skilled general labor, maintenance, and repair work.
• Operates a variety of motorized/specialized equipment and vehicles for construction,
repair, and maintenance (e.g., backhoes, bulldozers, and excavators).
• Inspects, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Complete required daily logs and reports.
• Is assigned to an on-call schedule as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
