About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to support a leading heavy civil construction company during a critical year-end close and beyond. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and has deep expertise in construction accounting, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) and cost-to-complete reporting. You will work closely with the CFO and leadership team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance while providing strategic insights.
Job Description
As Controller, you will:

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, depreciation schedules, and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage WIP schedules and cost-to-complete reporting for multiple entities.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Collaborate with operations and project management for accurate job costing.
• Assist with lender reporting and financial packages (typically 45 days in arrears).
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements.
• Utilize ERP data (Vista by Viewpoint) and advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.

Qualifications
Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in construction is required
• Expertise in WIP reporting, cost-to-complete, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (Vista by Viewpoint or similar).

Preferred:

• CPA or CMA designation.
• Experience supporting year-end close and audit processes.
• Ability to work onsite full-time; flexibility considered for exceptional candidates.
