Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will utilize expertise in equipment design, modification, and computational fluid dynamics.This role focuses on designing and optimizing hydraulic, pneumatic, filtration, and conveyance operations.The ideal candidate will have experience in controls and be skilled in improving system performance, efficiency, and reliability in industrial and manufacturing environments through data driven decisions.

We expect every engineer to use their talents and expertise to drive our production facilities to world-class operations across all metrics through daily continuous improvement and large scale project design and execution. With the facility's production capacity and product range continuously expanding, there will be a constant stream of new and exciting projects to lead.

** Duties and Responsibilities:

**

  • Design, develop, and modify mechanical equipment, with a focus on hydraulics, pneumatics, filtration, and conveyance systems.
  • Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics software to analyze and optimize fluid flow and heat transfer.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, engineering calculations, and system simulations to enhance equipment performance.
  • Develop detailed CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid system issues in production applications.
  • Work with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with automation and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and project updates.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source and evaluate components for system enhancements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

** Minimum Qualifications:

**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical equipment design, modification, or maintenance.

** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

**

  • Strong knowledge ofhydraulics, pneumatics, filtration, and conveyance systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Fusion 360, or similar) for mechanical design.
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics software (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar).
  • Experience with machinery troubleshooting, process optimization, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials selection, and fabrication techniques.
  • Understanding of industrial automation, PLCs, and motion control systems.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and fluid system failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience in heavy industrial, material handling, or processing industries.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) in addition to CFD.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or reliability engineering.
  • Experience in weld design.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC integration and control system programming.
  • All other knowledge, skills, and abilities that are reasonably aligned with this role, such as strong project management and organizational skills, time management skills, problem solving skills, ability to use necessary computer software, etc.
